Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic, old time example of pleonaste spinel from Madagascar!!! Pleonaste spinels are known for their complexly modified habits and this specimen exhibits characteristic complexity for the varietal!!! This specimen consists of a partial single greenish-tan crystal that exhibits a complexly modified octahedral habit!!! The crystal has sharp, glassy faces and, upon close study in person one can see that the outermost millimeter of the crystal is actually water-clear!!! This unique feature gives an almost glazed-china like appearance!!! This specimen retains an antique Ward's label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
