Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible example of this rare and legendary find of stephanite from the Husky Mine!!! These specimens
were collected by Joe Weinholtzner in 1976 and represent one of the most incredible examples of the species
known!!! This remote and long-since-flooded locality produced a small quantity of unusually iridescent
polybasite and stephanite crystals (with the stephanite crystals being dramatically more rare)!!! This is
a fantastic example of stephanite for this amazing and unique find!!! This specimen is a
complete floater - with no point of attachment or matrix!!! (To find a complete,
doubly terminated crystal is quite rare in itself because, as the story goes the entirity of these specimens
were kept in a piled into a single coffee can!!!) The crystals show highly complex, somewhat hoppered or skeletal
terminations!!! The crystal is incredibly complex and much more sharp and
detailed than it appears in the pics!!! The crystal has a unique and characteristic iridescence - with showy blue, green, magenta, and purple highlights
- it is truly astonishing in person!!! These classic Husky Mine specimens are highly sought after and quite difficult to find!!!
This specimen is from the lifelong personal collection of Frank & Wendy Melanson!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 9th!!!
