Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible example of this rare and legendary find of stephanite from the Husky Mine!!! These specimens were collected by Joe Weinholtzner
in 1976 (the Hansen label dates it as 1976, yet other sources say 1977) and represent one of the most
incredible examples of the species known!!! This remote and long-since-flooded locality produced a small quantity of unusually iridescent polybasite and
stephanite crystals (with the stephanite crystals being dramatically more rare)!!! This is an incredible and significant example of stephanite for this
amazing and unique find!!! This crystal is a complete floater - with no point of attachment and complete terminations at both ends!!!
(To find a complete, doubly terminated crystal is quite rare in itself because, as the story goes the entirity of these specimens were kept in a piled into a
single coffee can!!!) The crystal is incredibly complex
and much more sharp and detailed than it appears in the pics!!! The crystal has an absolutely unbelievable iridescence - above an beyond anything else
I can think of in the mineral kingdom - it is truly astonishing in person!!! This specimen retains an old Gary Hansen label as well!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS
