Description/Interesting Notes:
A historic, old time example of stephanite from the Comstock Lode!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of stephanite in intimate association
with other sulfides!!! Upon close inspection, the large, dark masses on the specimen consist of a complex
mixture of chalcopyrite, sphalerite, and several other species, with the stephanite being present as massive, altered material cementing it
all together!!! The specimen also hosts concentric networks of tiny grains of stephanite in the matrix as well!!! Specimens from this locality
are quite scarce today, as very few specimens survived smelting in the fervent search for riches!!!
Nevada is known as "The Silver State" due to its rich silver-mining history and it all began in this famous district!!! This specimen
retains an old A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum label with L.L. Hubbard Collection notation!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3rd!!!
