Description/Interesting Notes:
A rich, historic specimen from Nevada's Silver Boom!!! This specimen hosts a very rich showing of massive stephanite accented by
red pyrargyrite "ruby silver"!!! While the specimen is rich in massive stephanite and pyrargyrite, upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one
can find a few areas of crystalline material tucked in a few tiny vugs!!! The town of Austin was established in 1862, not long after
the Comstock Lode was discovered, and was the second major silver discovery in Nevada!!! The area was feverishly mined and was effectively
exhausted in 1887!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and
retains its original label, as well as an older Michigan College of Mines label and its original antique glass-lined specimen box from the museum
as well!!! This specimen also retains an old label from Ward's (c.1875-1891) as well!!! Specimens from Nevada's "Silver Boom" are rarely seen today!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 20th!!!
