Stibnite
Knipe Mine (Knipes Mine), Hare Hill, New Cumnock, Strathclyde (Ayrshire), Scotland
5.22cm x 3.36cm x 2.62cm
Ex. J. Cilen Collection No. 8234
Ex. W. D. Christianson Collection
Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific, rare locality example of stibnite from Scotland!!! This specimen is from a small World War I era antimony locality and consists of a rich
showing of included crystals of silvery metallic stibnite in quartz matrix!!! The elongated crystal sections are more significant and prominent than the pictures show!!!
The outer portion of the specimen appears to host some quartz crystal lined cavities that appear to be the result of long-since dissolved stibnite crystals and
there also appears to be some yellowish massive stibiconite present in association as well!!! This specimen retains old labels from the Cilen collection and the
W.D. Christianson collection as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
