Description/Interesting Notes:
A superb example of stolzite from California!!! These specimens were initially thought to be scheelite crystals and were
identified as such for decades!!! Although they were found in the late 1950's and it wasn't until relatively recently that they
were determined to be some of the worlds finest stolzites!!! Today these specimens are scarce and seldom seen on the market!!!
This specimen consists of a sharp, single octahedron of stolzite!!! The crystal has a slightly velveteen luster and actually shows some
faint translucence!!! There are some complex modifications and there is an unidentified yellowish species in close association as well!!! Upon
close inspection, one can see that this yellow material is also crystalline, not massive!!! Simply a magnificent example of this rare
species from California!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
