This intensely colorful species is most commonly encountered as massive material with crystalline examples of sugilite being extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors!!! This specimen consists of a group of parallel crystals dramatically set in stark contrast to the underlying white pectolite!!! The group of crystals measures over 1.3cm with individual faces approaching an unheard of 1cm!!! The depth and intensity of the rich royal purple color is way, way better than the pics show!!!
