Sugilite Wessels Mine, Hotazel, South Africa 2.11cm x 1.46cm x .95cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A rare example of crystalline sugilite from Wessels!!! This specimen hosts a rich network of crystalline sugilite throughout a matrix of lighter purple massive sugilite!!! The color is WAY better than the pics show - for some reason digital cameras have trouble "seeing" the intense purple color of sugilite and alternately show it as magenta or bluish purple - however in person it is a lively and intense choice violet purple!!! The crystals are sharp, lustrous, an pronounced in person!!! When viewed with a loupe or scope one can find tiny ruizite crystals in association as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
