Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, old time example of this rare gold and silver telluride from Colorado!!! This specimen consists of an impressive single crystal of
sylvanite that hosts a coating of tiny quartz points and a few tiny light purple fluorite crystals perched on the reverse!!! There is a second, smaller
crystal in parallel association as well!!! The crystal is terminated and has bright metallic luster with an attractive, slightly
iridescent patina!!! One can see numerous triangular recesses along one side of the crystal, resembling the edge of a key - these are
actually sharply defined crystalline features!!! Rarely do you see such fine single crystals and it is extremely rare to
see one in such a showy, free-standing presentation as well!!! This specimen is from the personal collection of the late
Ernie Schlicter and retains his orginal, detailed notecard indicating that he acquired it from the R. Webster Collection, who in turn had
acquired it from Dave Wilbur in 1980 (the specimen also retains a label from the Webster Collection with D. Wilbur notation as well)!!! Simply
an incredible example of this sought after species from this historic Colorado locale!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 10th!!!
