Description/Interesting Notes:
An old, rare locality example of this gold bearing species from historic South Dakota!!! This specimen hosts a significant showing of sylvanite present as
tiny, silvery grains included in the matrix in association with purple fluorite and selenite!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, there
is actually a significant amount of sylvanite to be seen!!! The sylvanite is present as tiny, submillimeter grains although there are a couple scattered
areas where larger more significant areas are present as well!!! There is an appreciable amount of purple fluorite present, in addition to
some complex crystals of selenite and some unidentified mineralization as well!!! One thing I find fascinating about this specimen is its similarity to the
telluride ores of Colorado, which exhibit a similar association with purple fluorite!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Michigan College of Mines (A.E.
Seaman Mineral Museum) and also retains an even older, handwritten label as well!!! Rare, historic material that dates to this historic region's heyday!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 23rd!!!
