Description/Interesting Notes:
A very unique and showy example of tanzanite being replaced by prehnite from Tanzania!!! This specimen consists of an aesthetic, rare
spray of tanzanite crystals that is being pseudomorphed by fine bluish color-change prehnite crystals!!! This is not a
mere coating of epitaxial prehnite crystals but rather very distinct and significant pseudomorphic replacement!!!
The tazanite crystals have not been heat-treated (as the vast majority are) and are present as a showy spray of slightly divergent bladed
crystals!!! The crystals have bright glassy luster, gemmy clarity, and choice purple-blue color!!! While not
all of the crystals are complete, many of the crystals exhibit complex terminations or complexly modified or etched terminations!!
The prehnite crystals are well formed with sharp, glassy faces!!! While most of the pseudomorphic crystals are complexly intergrown, there
is an area of larger prehnite crystals present as well!!! These larger prehnite crystals exhibit handsome bluish color that
shows pronounced color change from slightly greenish gray to lavender to a handsome blue depending on the
light source!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see that the crystals are indeed pseudomorphic replacements of
the tanzanite crystals!!! Don't miss out on this rare and unusual beauty!!!
