Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely incredible example of tanzanite from Tanzania!!! Let me start by saying that this specimen is UNIQUE - it has
extraordinary pleochroism and very unique color in person!!! This specimen came from the same recent find as the
pink tanzanite crystals and, while it does not exhibit pink color - it DOES exhibit a unique and pronounced purple to magenta-purple color that is quite
characteristic in person!!! Additionally, the crystal shows extraordinary pleochroism (the color changes when viewed at different angles)!!!
When viewed through the main prism face the crystal shows a richly saturated purple to magenta-purple, however when it is viewed on
edge the crystal shows a vivid BLUE color with a zone of blue green toward the termination!!! Additionally, when viewed down the
c-axis one can catch deep, dark highlights of reddish magenta!!! The color change is SO dramatic and complete that it is almost
unbelievable in person!!! The color - especially the purple color - is very unique and characteristic in person!!! This specimen has
superb and unusual color indeed!!! The crystal has terrific gem clarity with razor-sharp faces and brilliant, glassy luster!!! The
crystal is complete and in fantastic condition all around!!! Simply amazing in person!!!
