Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of this rare species from Norway!!! Thortveitite is a very rare silicate of scandium!!! Out of the four thousand plus mineral species there are just a few that contain scandium - and all of them are quite rare indeed!!! This specimen hosts several crystals of thortveitite that range in size up to 2cm!!! The crystals have glassy luster and range in color from tan to olive green!!! This specimen is from the collection of Fioravanti Giancarlo and retains his handwritten label as well!!! Rare material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
