Description/Interesting Notes:
This is a group of three specimens from Tiger that came out of the Jenkins collection!!! The specimens are labelled as Leadhillite, Cerussite, and
Alamosite - all have original labels and corresponding catalogue numbers!!! However, I cannot find anything on the specimens other than cerussite and quartz!!!
The "leadhillite" specimen has the characteristic blue color that one sometimes sees in Tiger leadhillite specimens and the cerussite crystals are
quite blocky in many instances - in fact some of them look almost hexagonal and barell-shaped!!! There are also a few tiny microcrystals of wulfenite in one
vug on this specimen, and there are numerous curious features to be seen upon close inspection!!! Perhaps there is some leadhillite on this specimen, however it
does not look like any of the other ones I have had over the years - however I must say that even as a cerussite specimen it is way better than the pics show and
a terrific cerussite specimen in and of itself!!! The specimen labelled as "cerussite" is of course, cerussite - it also features numerous
quartz crystal coated cerussite crystals and some outright replacements as well!!! Again - it is a great specimen in and of itself!!! The alamosite
specimen hosts some cerussite crystals and druzy quartz just like the other specimens!!! There are some complex microcrystals of cerussite but there
is nothing that I can identify as being alamosite or even suspect - that said, it is still a handsome specimen just like the others!!! Now,
one thing of note with this group is
that the matrix of all three specimens are VERY similar and it appears quite likely that they all came from the same boulder/pocket, etc. (you'll see a picture near the bottom that
shows the back of all three specimens and you can really see the similarity here)!!! Also, I must say that Jenkins was a serious academic and an expert on Butte mineralogy who
often had his rarities analyzed and was not prone to "wishful thinking" with his specimens - so this group really had me scratching my head!!! I am by no means
an expert on Tiger mineralogy, however I figured I'd just list these specimens as a group and sell them collectively as possibly mislabelled cerussite specimens!!! If
I am wrong than it will simply be a great surprise for someone!!! That being said - this is a great group of unique cerussite and quartz specimens from Tiger at the
very least!!! The pics DON'T even come CLOSE to doing them justice!!! (By the way, the pictures of each specimen go in order after their corresponding
labelled picture below)
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
