Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of topaz and aquamarine from Russia!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of
glassy topaz crystals in association with scattered crystals of light blue aquamarine!!! This specimen is comprised almost
entirely of intergrown topaz crystals!!! The topaz crystals range in size to 2.3cm and the aquamarine crystals range in size to 1.6cm!!! The topaz crystals range from colorless to limonite-stained golden yellow and many have
somewhat complex terminations capped with thin zones of whitish, translucent to opaque topaz!!! The crytals are WAY better than the pictures
show - in person the individual crystals are much more distinct and this specimen is entirely comprised of intergrown crystals!!!
The aquamarine crystals are present as two, chunky hexagonal crystals and a single elongated prismatic crystal!!! The
aquamarine has a characteristic light blue color however, upon close inspection one can see that the crystals
have thin, outer zones of colorless to yellowish beryl!!! This is an amazing combination of two classic species from this
historic locality!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains an old, antique museum label as well as old, enamel style
catalogue numbers on the bottom!!! Classic old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 12th!!!
