Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic example of "watermelon" tourmaline from Maine!!! This specimen consists of a sharp, complete, doubly terminated
crystal of watermelon tourmaline with a small amount of cookeite in association!!! This specimen does have a repair, however
it was expertly done and is barely discernable!!! While we rarely sell repaired specimens, there are some rare instances when
it is acceptable - and this is certianly one of them (it is also worth noting that since it is doubly terminated, even if it is "unrepaired" it would still be a
handsome pair of specimens)!!!
This specimen retains a museum label with notation that it was donated by Roz & Norm Pellman as well!!! The crystal
has gorgeous green color that exhibits that characteristic bluish green "Newry" hue (much more apparent in person)!!! The
crystal shows an outer zone of lively green followed by a core of pink!!! The terminations both have a thin coating of
cookeite, however one can see some sharp faces present around the edges (it appears as thought the cookeite could be easily removed as well)!!!
Classic material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 10th!!!
