A unique, old time example of watermelon tourmaline and topaz from Maine!!! Examples of topaz from this locality are quite scarce indeed!!!
This unusual specimen consists of a dense network of watermelon tourmaline crystals and lepidolite that host a single, complexly
etched crystal of water-clear topaz!!! The tourmaline crystals have great watermelon color with marked clarity and glassy luster!!! The
tourmaline crystals range in size up to nearly 5cm!!! The topaz crystal is difficult to appreciate from the pics, however it consists of a
highly complex, etched crystal and measures 1.7cm!!! The crystal is much more substantial and crystalline than it appears in the pics!!! Upon
close inspection one can see all kinds of complex crystal faces all over the crystal!!! Interestingly, the topaz crystal
shows marked fluorescence under SW UV as well (showing a whitish blue color)!!! This is old material and retains an old museum label as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
