Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific, old time example of rubellite tourmaline from Russia!!! While there has been some recent discoveries of rubellite tourmaline from the region, this is OLD material!!! This specimen consists of a complex single crystal of deep cranberry red rubellite tourmaline in association with a single, complexly altered quartz crystal that serves as a matrix!!! The crystal appears to be doubly terminated with one termination penetrating the quartz crystal!!! The crystal has bright glassy luster and gemmy clarity!!! The color is quite characteristic with some hints of an almost orange hue!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
