Description/Interesting Notes:
An old time example of tourmaline from this seldom referenced locality!!! This specimen consists of a highly complex crystal of tourmaline!!! The
crystal is comprised of numerous parallel crystals that come together to form one single crystal with a series of thin, hollow tubes along the c-axis - this unique
formation is often what creates a "cat's eye" effect in tourmaline crystals (which you can see in this one at certain angles)!!! Perhaps the most unique feature of this
specimen is its unusual color - although the color is quite dark, with some lighting it becomes apparent that this crystal has a most peculiar, slightly purplish red
color that is seldom seen in the species!!! This specimen retains two very old labels that date the specimen to well over 100 years old!!! The pics
hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
