Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic example of tourmaline with quartz and lepidolite from this famous California locale!!! This specimen consists of a large
qroup of intergrown quartz crystals that hosts a rich showing of pink lepidolite with scattered crystals of tourmaline!!! The
quartz crystals show complex, almost brecciated features where it has naturally cracked apart and re-healed or was fused together
by the intergrown lepidolite!!! There are two partial tourmaline crystals that exhibit darkly colored cores surrounded by pink!!! The
most prominent feature however is the blue and pink tourmaline crystal!!! This crystal has a base of pink with a thick cap of
pale blue!!! Although it shows some slightly rounded edges, the crystal is terminated and has lustrous prism faces!!!
The crystal has marked clarity and, upon careful examination, one can see that the pale blue area actually has a zone of
colorless achroite as well!!! This specimen was a gift from owner of the Stewar Mine, Blue Sheppard, to the specimen's
previous owner!!! Upon close examination, one can see some tiny portions of green tourmaline on the bottom, as well as a small bit
of bluish tourmaline with a tiny orange mass of spessartine garnet in it!!! Classic material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 16th!!!
