Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific example of tugtupite from Greenland!!! This specimen hosts numerous areas of lively pink and red tugtupite in association
with black crystals of aegirine and other unidentified species!!! In addition to the massive
tugtupite, there are small areas of gem clear, crystalline grains of tugtupite present as well!!! Upon
close inspection with a loupe or scope, one can see some submillimeter crystals in close association as well!!! The
tugtupite fluoresces a bright red orange under SW UV and there are areas of green fluorescence as well (an unidentified species)!!! In
addition to the fluorescence, the tugtupite exhibits pronounced tenebrescence (pink-magenta to deep cherry red) as well - meaning that the tugtupite shows a significant darkening
of color after exposure to UV that gradually reverts back to the original color over a period of time!!!
Rare material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 21st!!!
