Description/Interesting Notes: An unusual, old time example of turquoise from this historic locality!!! This specimen exhibits a very unusual gray color!!! The specimen exhibits all of the physical characteristics of turquoise however!!! This specimen consists of a rich mass of gray turquoise with the ochre colored material simply being an outer crust of sorts!!! This unusual specimen may be a rarer related species, or just simply a very unusual color expression!!! This specimen is labelled as simply being from "Persia" which likely refers to the historic localities in Iran that provided turquoise to ancient people as long as 2000 years ago!!! This specimen retains an old affixed label as well as an old handscripted label!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
