Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rare locality example of rare, crystalline turquoise from Papua New Guinea!!! While massive turquoise is relatively
common by comparison - examples of crystalline turquoise are quite rare, occuring in just a few localities worldwide!!! Not
only is crystalline turquoise rare - examples from this locality are extremely rare, practically nonexistent!!! This specimen is
actually part of an exploratory drill core (this locality is actually a gold & copper mine) that hosts a vug lined with handsome, translucent blue turquoise
crystals in association with some tiny quartz points as well!!! Upon close inspection one can see that there are severl other
smaller cavities that host some turquoise crystals as well some golden chalcopyrite!!! Rare material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer and retains an
original collection label as well!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer
and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!!
