A fantastic example of uranophane from this famed locality!!! This specimen consists of a thick, solid band of uranophane crystals!!! The crystals have bright yellow color and
a dramatically elongated prismatic habit!!! There also appears to be a minor amount of an unidentified green mineral in association as well!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Gauthier Collection!!! Gilbert Gauthier (1924-2006)
was a mining geologist and engineer for Union Minére du Haut Katanga!!! His profession gained him access to the mineral rich Katanga region as well as the
famed Shinkolobwe Mine!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
