Vandenbrandeite with Guilleminite Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) 5.7cm x 4.7cm x 3.35cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific example of these rare uranium-bearing species from the Congo!!! This specimen consists of a matrix comprised of chalcocite and malachite that hosts vugs of sharply formed, dark green crystals of vandenbrandeite in association with intense yellow guilleminite!!! There are numerous areas of guilleminite throughout the matrix scattered throughout the matrix and, upon close examination with a loupe or scope, one can see some tiny well formed crystals in protected cavities!!! The vandenbrandeite crystals are significant and much better than the pics show!!! The specimen hosts an area of acicular malachite crystals with a few torbernite crystals scattered among them as well!!! There are some areas of crystalline chalcocite intergrown into the matrix as well!!! There is a LOT going on with this specimen!!! This is older material that dates to the 1950's!!!
