Description/Interesting Notes:
A historic example of wardite dating to its original discovery in 1896!!! This specimen consists of a colorful
combination of green variscite and translucent to near gemmy, bluish wardite in association with other related species!!!
The variscite shows characteristic lively green color and is flanked by a thick band of translucent, somewhat bluish
wardite with some areas of wardite included in the variscite as well!!! There are some sphere-shaped inclusions "floating" in
the wardite and one can even see some crystal-shaped outlines on the edges of the wardite zones as well!!! The specimen consists of a
cut slab that has been polished to an exceptional brilliance on one side (the wardite is particularly lustrous!)!!!
This specimen retains an old label from George English as well as an additional unattributed label as well!!! The date of Aug. 1896 is written on the specimen!!!
The George English label references the article in American Journal of Science in August 1896 that announced the discovery of the species!!!
Historic, old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection
of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection
of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
