Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible, old time example of this sought after rarity from the type locality in Bolivia!!! Vauxite specimens are almost always seen
as isolated casts with no associated matrix - examples of vauxite on matrix are extremely rare!!! This specimen consists of a
rich showing of vauxite in association with franckeite on a matrix of chunky pyrite crystals!!! What
makes this specimen even more exceptional, beyond being a matrix specimen, is the rich association with franckeite!!! The vauxite
appears to be present as two seperate generations with numerous scattered sprays of deep blue crystals followed by a
subsequent layer of small pale blue crystals that blankets a significant portion of the specimen!!! The pyrite crystals
have brassy metallic luster and the main crystal consists of a sharp cube with a prominent octahedral modification!!! There
is a very rich showing of dark gray, metallic blades of franckeite all around the specimen - much of which has been
partially coated with vauxite microcrystals!!! In person the franckeite is much more apparent and the combination of
blue vauxite and brassy metallic pyrite is quite handsome indeed!!! Very rare, OLD material!!! This specimen is WAY better than the pics show!!!
Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
