Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutely incredible, old time example of this rare and colorful diopside varietal from Italy!!! This specimen consists of a dense mass of intergrown crystals of INTENSE violet purple diopside var. violane!!! The crystals are lustrous and well defined!!! Upon close inspection, one can see that the individual crystals exhibit significant clarity!!! The color is absolutely extraordinary in person - the purple color is more intense than any other mineral I can think of!!! This is an amazing old timer indeed!!! This specimen retains an old label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!!
