Vivianite pseudomorph after Belemnite "Mullicite" Mullica Hill, Gloucester Co., New Jersey

Description/Interesting Notes:A fantastic example of "mullicite" vivianite from New Jersey!!! Mullicite is an antiquated term that referred specifically to the vivianite specimens from this locality!!! The Vivianite specimens from this locality are almost always encountered as replacements after gastropods, particularly Belemnites - however, they are almost never encountered as complete as this!!! In most circumstances only cross-sections of Belemnites are seen - however, this specimen consists of an entire Belemnite, top to bottom!!! The specimen sturdy portion of matrix and both the specimen and the matrix are completely cemented by phosphates!!! The Vivianite crystals are exposed at the base of the specimen and are comprised of lustrous, darkly colored intergrown crystals!!! This specimen retains an old, unattributed, handwritten label!!!
