Description/Interesting Notes: A rare, old time example of ilmenite var. washingtonite from NEW YORK CITY!!! This specimen consists of thin, platy crystals of ilmenite var. washingtonite on a matrix of albite var. oligoclase!!! There also appears to be a small amount of somewhat massive, greenish epidote in association as well!!! This specimen is from the collection of Frederick Braun!!! Braun operated a shop on Crosby St. in New York City be between 1889 and 1894 and this specimen dates to this time!!! This specimen was part of a pair of specimens (matching halves actually) that we sold a few weeks ago - while this specimen does not retain a label, a digital copy can be provided upon request!!!
