Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely incredible example of BLUE wavellite from a small new find in Arkansas!!! This specimen is from a tiny single pocket that
produced a handful of uniquely colored wavellite crystals!!! This specimen has an extraordinary BLUE to blue green color - it actually
exhibits a significant color change depending on the lighting!!! In sunlight or full spectrum fluorescent lighting the specimen exhibits
an intense blue green color that is unlike anything else I have ever seen in the mineral kingdom!!! In regular incandescent lighting,
the specimen exhibits a more bluish color that is unlike any other wavellite I have ever seen!!!
They could easily be mistaken for a curious looking vauxite rather than wavellite!!! Not only does this specimen exhibit this rare blue color, it has remarkable color zoning as you
can see on the edge of the crystals!!! It is this colorful zoning that imparts a most unique blue-green color to the crystals!!! In person,
these green zones are MUCH more colorful than the pics show, and the hue that they impart to the blue wavellite is more significant as well!!!
There is also a thin outer layer to the crystals that is clear to slightly translucent-clear, which gives the crystals a unique frosted - yet highly lustrous cast in
areas!!! This specimen is in
fantastic condition with highly lustrous undamaged crystals that show marked clarity as well!!! The combination of intense colors, unique features, and
high quality make this specimen quite striking indeed!!! The few other specimens of this
material, representing the remainder of the find, are going to be featured by a well known high end mineral dealer in the very near
future!!! These rare blue wavellites are no doubt going to be a highly sought after one time find!!! You don't want to miss out on
this rare opportunity!!! The pictures don't even come close to doing this specimen justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
