Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely incredible example of BLUE wavellite from a small new find in Arkansas!!! This specimen is from a tiny single
pocket that produced a handful of uniquely colored wavellite crystals!!! This specimen has an extraordinary BLUE to blue
green color - it actually exhibits a significant color change depending on the lighting!!! In sunlight or full spectrum
fluorescent lighting the specimen exhibits an intense blue green color that is unlike anything else I have ever seen in
the mineral kingdom!!! In regular incandescent lighting, the specimen exhibits a more bluish color that is unlike any
other wavellite I have ever seen!!! The blue color is much more significant than the pictures show too!!! They could
easily be mistaken for a curious looking vauxite rather than wavellite!!! Looking at the crystals on the edge of the specimen, you can see that the
core of the spherical crystal group exhibits a more "typical" greenish color - this gives you a good perspective of just how different the color of this material is!!! The
pictures that show this view were also taken in full-spectrum fluorescent lighting and show the dramatic color change as well!!!
This specimen is in fantastic
condition with highly lustrous undamaged crystals that show marked translucence as well!!! The few other
specimens of this material, representing the remainder of the find, are going to be featured by a well
known high end mineral dealer in the very near future!!! These rare blue wavellites are no doubt going
to be a highly sought after one time find!!! You don't want to miss out on this rare opportunity!!!
The pictures don't even come close to doing this specimen justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
