Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of gemmy willemite from Franklin!!! This specimen consists of a dense, solid mass of gemmy willemite!!! The
color ranges from a characteristic yellow green to a distinct orange!!! This specimen exhibits pronounced color change - the result of actual "daylight fluorescence" between full spectrum fluorescent lighting or sunlight and
incandescent lighting!!! In the presence of any full spectrum fluorescent (artificial sunlight) or sunlight the specimen takes on a
pronounced fluorescent green hue that is not unlike antique "vaseline glass" or "uranium glass"!!! Under incandescent lighting the yellow green areas
turn to a more yellowish hue!!! The pictures simply don't capture just how good this old time beauty is!!! Upon close examination with a loupe or scope, one can find tiny areas of
native copper on the specimen's broad surfaces, in some natural fractures, and included within the willemite in some areas!!! There are several areas
throughout the specimen that could likely yield a cut gem!!! Of course the specimen is wildly fluorescent
under SW and LW UV as well!!! Simply a magnificent example of the species from Franklin!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 25th!!!
