Description/Interesting Notes:
An outstanding example of willemite from Franklin!!! This specimen hosts a striking "vein" of willemite that snakes through a
characteristic matrix of intergrown grains of franklinite, calcite, and willemite!!! This specimen has been expertly cut and
polished on its broad face in order to further show off this sharp and prominent willemite vein!!! To my eye, this
specimen looks like a piece of bacon layed across a classic Franlin matrix!!! The specimen exhibits
pronounced fluorescence under SW UV, with the willemite showing an intense yellow-green fluorescence and the
calcite exhibiting a characteristic reddish-orange fluorescence!!! In addition, there are several thick bands within the
willemite vein, as well as some scattered grains of willemite,
that show very strong phosphorescence and continue to glow for a short time after the UV lightsource is removed (very impressive
in person)!!! This specimen is from the personal collection of John Lindell and retains his original label as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 6th!!!
