Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent and rare example of witherite and barytocalcite from this seldom represented locale!!! This locality produced just a
handful of specimens yet they are considered to be some of the finest examples of the species!!!
These incredible Pigeon Roost Mine witherite specimens are quite characteristic, consisting of somewhat tabular, hexagonal crystals with
brialliant luster and marked clarity!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of sharp, undamaged witherite crystals in
association with some finely bladed crystals of barytocalcite scattered among them!!! Because it was such a small, brief find, the specimens are
quite scarce!!! As a result of their rarity, some collectors are not even aware of the locality or its exceptional witherite specimens -
however among those collectors that are in the know, these specimens are highly prized and fervently sought after!!!
This specimen originally came from Al Kidwell (for whom the mineral Kidwellite is named) and is
from the collection of Marcelle Weber!!! This specimen retains its original label with Kidwell notation from Marcelle Weber as well!!! Simply
incredible in person!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 26th!!!
