Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely incredible example of this rare species from this historic Canadian locale!!! This specimen consists of a matrix
studded with tiny calcite crystals that is loaded with sharply formed crystals of wurtzite, punctuated by an impressive spray hosting crystals
well over 4mm!!! This is an exceptional example of the species for the locality!!! This historic locality was a silver mine
that was active from 1868, when a vein of pure silver was found on the small island in Lake Superior, until 1884 when the mine ultimately
flooded!!! Specimens from this locality are quite scarce and highly sought after!!! Examples of wurtzite from this locality are
typically seen as submillimeter crystals - however this specimen hosts large, eye visible crystals in prominent display!!! The crystals
are sharp and have marked luster!!! Simply incredible in person!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 15th!!!
