Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely incredible example of wurtzite from Butte!!! Let me start off by saying that this specimen is WAY better than the
pictures show!!! This is a very significant and impressive wurtzite indeed!!! This specimen hosts a prominent cluster of
particularly large wurtzite crystals in association with enargite and quartz on pyrite!!! This specimen hosts numerous sharply
defined hexagonal plates that measure in size up to over 8mm wide!!! The crystals have a significant iridescent patina which, combined
with the hexagonal crystals resulted in this specimen having a previous label that once identified it as covellite (however
it has since been identified as wurtzite of course)!!! Upon close examination one can see that there is some dark yet
slightly translucent clarity in some small areas as well!!! There may
be some pseudomorphic sphalerite as well, as this is not uncommon with Butte wurtzites,
however the wurtzite form is defined and prominent!!! In person the sharpness of the crystals, their defined form, and the
overall three-dimensionality is way better than the pics show!!! This is a very significant and handsome Butte wurtzite indeed!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 13th!!!
