Zeunerite with Uraninite

Le Temple, Marsac-de-Livradois, Puy-de-Dome, Auvergne, France

10.4cm x 10cm x 5cm

Ex. Jean Chervet Collection

Ex. Sorbonne Museum

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of zeunerite and uraninite from this seldom referenced French locale!!! This specimen consists of a dense mass of oolitic uraninite that shows extensive alteration to pale green zeunerite richly distributed throughout a quartz matrix!!! Upon close inspection one can see numerous significant areas of darkly colored uraninite that exhibit botryoidal and oolitic forms scattered throughout the matrix intergrown pale green zeunerite exhibiting identical forms!!! This is OLD material from the Sorbonne Museum in France and retains an old label with Jean Chervet Collection notation as well!!! This specimen is quite hefty and significant - very rich uranium bearing ore!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
